The Summer Flower Bath Challenge
A *Free* Ritual Practice to Clear Energy, Deepen Connection and Increase Self-Love
You are invited to participate in one of my favorite practices for life transformation. The Summer Flower Bath Challenge is a simple but potent way to shift energetics, clear old patterns and habits, and realign our wyrd for the moon ahead. Participation is easy: Beginning on the Full Moon August 11th we commit to creating some form of flower bath—any combination of flowers, water, sun and intention—every day for 13 days.
We begin by setting intentions for the practice, and keep a record of our process in a journal or, if you want to create community, share photos and stories in the private (free) Wild Soul School Community.
This practice is infinitely adaptable—see below—and has an equally infinite number of applications (clearing, protecting, grieving, celebrating, honoring, invoking, manifesting, changing changing changing…). If you are seeking a practice to help ground and connect you with simplicity and joy, there is no more powerful one I know…
Here are a few tips and modifications to start:
Download the Moon Divas Guidebook Flower Bath pages—available here with no paywall—or buy your own copy of the Guidebook for interactive practice suggestions year round—buy the Guidebook here and support spirited self-care for all.
Southern Hemisphere or Cold Weather Flower Bath Modifications
This challenge is held in the height of summer for the North, but may be practiced year round and in any climate. Hot baths with plants, drinking tea infusions or using plants in steam baths (in the winter section of the Moon Divas Guidebook) are all easy modifications for cold weather.
The most important parts of any practice:
Use what you have. This applies to tools and implements. Our ancestors reward our creativity.
No bucket or large bowl? Use any receptacle—a cup works fine. I’ve made flower baths in jam jars, salad bowls, tea mugs. Any container will do.
No fresh flowers? Dried flowers or even tea will work fine.
No flowers at all? Every plant is magic—sacred weeds, culinary herbs, leafy greens, evergreen needles, dried grasses all contain unique blessings. These baths are an energetic infusion, so while flowers increase the beauty of the blend they are not necessary to making a powerful bath.
No plants available? Make sun-moon-star water by leaving a bowl or cup of water drawn with intention outside or on a windowsill overnight.
Use what you have. This applies to time and availability. If you are stretched for time and space make what you already do into a ritual—I call this ritualizing the routine. You may make your shower, tooth brushing, hand washing into a sacred act for the purposes of this practice with the application of breath, gratitude and intention.
Make it your own. I share my path and ways with the hope that it will offer you inspiration to create your own version. Your practice will not look like mine once you begin to listen to your inner knowing, the spirits of the place where you live, your unique ancestral promptings. We become rich through relationship. All practice begins with examination and imitation, but it is when we begin to add our unique signature in relationship to the plants, water, sun, air and spirit that true magic happens.
And remember: The most important tool in any ritual practice is our focused intention.
How to join with others:
Patrons of my work on Patreon will have access to a Song Book and chant downloads next week, for increasing bath potency and a couple of video tutorials as we travel together. If you would like join the community of support for this work and receive Patron only benefits such as live events, rune readings, 1:1 mentoring and class discounts, become a patron here:
If you are new to ritual you can still join this challenge, and if you want to dive deeper while we travel you can always add the Free 13 Days of Ritual class at the Wild Soul School as a complement to your flower bathing practice. This on-demand class has prompts for each day (of which flower baths are one) to root you into effective ritual practice as we travel.
For more inspiration and Flower Bath examples, you can view photos in this public post on Patreon.
I am excited to share this practice with you in the weeks ahead. Practicing flower baths with community (family, children) is delightful and rich. This practice, done consistently for 13 days, will change your life. I’ve seen it happen for over fourteen years now, with hundreds of people from three to eighty years old, in many stages of transition and transformation. Even from afar, we make magic together.
With love, to the balance--ᚨᛚᚢ--Lara
